Celebrating in style: Joe Curcio observes 100th birthday

Joe Curcio Celebrated in Style Thursday Night

The Glenville resident observed his 100 years with family members at Johnny's restaurant in Schenectady. There were stories and laughs and a giant, patriotically-decorated cake. As Joe is young at heart, there were only three small candles on the dessert.  "There are no words to fit it," Curcio said of the party.   Curcio served with the Army's 69th Armored Regiment during World War II. He drove a tank and also helped the Allies' cause as a sharpshooter.

He appreciated the dinner party, which was a gift from new friend and Johnny's principal Bobby Mallozzi -- who appreciated the chance to thank a veteran and help him toast an important milestone.  The Johnny's team welcomed the Curcio family by placing three framed posters -- featuring Joe in uniform -- near the restaurant's front doors. Curcio said a great family has been part of his great life. "You have to have a good family behind you," he said.

Glenville's Gary Curcio Jr. said his father also lived in Rotterdam during his lifetime and worked 40 years as an inspector for the General Electric Co.  The younger Curcio said his father always has been a sweet man, a hard-working guy who easily makes friends. Gary said a culinary habit may have contributed to Joe's long life.  "He loves his garlic and sardines," he said.

AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMAN'S DAY

American Business Women’s Day is observed nationally on September 22nd. This holiday was recognized by a Congressional resolution and proclamation in 1983 and 1986 issued by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the contributions and legacies of the millions of American working women and business owners.
September 22nd was chosen as it marks the 1949 founding date of the American Business Women’s Association. Their mission is “to bring together business women of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.”
Bonded Building Materials, Inc. would like to recognize our company President, Charlene Curcio. Bonded Building Materials, Inc. has been a small family owned and operated business since 1980. In 2010, Charlene took over the reigns as President. At this time she applied to become a certified NYS WBE (New York State Woman-Owned Business Enterprise) which was a rigorous undertaking. Governor Cuomo launched the WBE Certification Campaign to encourage women business owners to certify with the State and take advantage of current and upcoming State procurements. Proudly today, at her helm, Charlene has continued her certification as a certified NYS WBE and runs one of the largest single source distributing companies of building materials in NY State.
Charlene resides in Scotia, NY with her husband, Gary. She is mother to five children, two step-children, and eleven grandchildren. Her love and care of golden retrievers is well known far and wide after raising, and in her previous career, breeding and boarding this family favorite breed.

Insulation

image64

At Dow Building Solutions, they give customers the technologies and expertise to deliver high-performance buildings. From foundation to attic, their line of insulation products deliver energy efficiency, durability and long-term comfort.  They’re continually working to meet builders’ needs through advocacy, building expertise and innovative solutions for increased sustainability, easier installation, greater occupant comfort, improved health and safety, enhanced durability, and reduced energy and materials use.

CONVENTIONAL ROOF

Insulation in a conventional roof lies under the protective membrane covering. Dow's conventional roof insulation and sealants provide long-term thermal performance, moisture resistance and can be reused.  Designed specifically for conventional roofing applications, Dow’s ultra-strong adhesives offer an alternative to metal fasteners with the added benefits of reduced thermal bridging and improved energy efficiency.

FLAT ROOF

For flat roofs, they also offer solutions with a diminishing plane to create a gentle slope, significantly improving water drainage. Unlike an inverted roof, insulation is placed on top of the membrane, enabling a perfect foundation for a terrace, garden or green roof on the top of your building. An inverted roof assembly can lengthen the life of the roof, contribute to sustainability and provide long-term cost savings.
