The Glenville resident observed his 100 years with family members at Johnny's restaurant in Schenectady. There were stories and laughs and a giant, patriotically-decorated cake. As Joe is young at heart, there were only three small candles on the dessert. "There are no words to fit it," Curcio said of the party. Curcio served with the Army's 69th Armored Regiment during World War II. He drove a tank and also helped the Allies' cause as a sharpshooter.
He appreciated the dinner party, which was a gift from new friend and Johnny's principal Bobby Mallozzi -- who appreciated the chance to thank a veteran and help him toast an important milestone. The Johnny's team welcomed the Curcio family by placing three framed posters -- featuring Joe in uniform -- near the restaurant's front doors. Curcio said a great family has been part of his great life. "You have to have a good family behind you," he said.
Glenville's Gary Curcio Jr. said his father also lived in Rotterdam during his lifetime and worked 40 years as an inspector for the General Electric Co. The younger Curcio said his father always has been a sweet man, a hard-working guy who easily makes friends. Gary said a culinary habit may have contributed to Joe's long life. "He loves his garlic and sardines," he said.

American Business Women’s Day is observed nationally on September 22nd. This holiday was recognized by a Congressional resolution and proclamation in 1983 and 1986 issued by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the contributions and legacies of the millions of American working women and business owners.
September 22nd was chosen as it marks the 1949 founding date of the American Business Women’s Association. Their mission is “to bring together business women of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support and national recognition.”

Governor Cuomo launched the WBE Certification Campaign to encourage women business owners to certify with the State and take advantage of current and upcoming State procurements. Charlene resides in Scotia, NY with her husband, Gary. She is mother to five children, two step-children, and eleven grandchildren. Her love and care of golden retrievers is well known far and wide after raising, and in her previous career, breeding and boarding this family favorite breed.
